Philip Modinos
CEO Hellenic Opera Co Son of the Cypriot international acclaimed baritone, the late John Modenos and one of the most important Greek sopranos, Jenny Drivala Philip is a dramatic tenor who has already won great critics internationally for his interpretation of great tenor roles such as Siegfried, Radames, Otello and many others, making a strong personal mark on the operatic field. He studied singing, piano and conducting at Trinity College of Music, London and was awarded a Bachelor's Degree Honours in Performance. During his time at Trinity he partook in numerous productions including the world premiere of “Cry of Innocence” under Terry Edwards. Since then he has appeared in Greece, England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Cyprus, Egypt and the USA. Roles that he has sung include: Pinkerton & Yamadori (Madam Butterfly) Lensky (Onegin) Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) Don Jose (Carmen) Siegfried (Siegfried) Otello & Cassio (Otello) Canio & Pepe (I Pagliacci) Radames (Aida) Creonte (Antigone) Ishmael (Nabucco) Luigi (Il Tabarro) Alfredo (La Traviata) Idomeneo (Idomeneo Re di Creta) as well as Stabat Mater by Dvorak, Messa di Gloria by Puccini and Requiem by Verdi. He has performed in numberous venues such as the National Opera of Greece, Barbican, St. John's Smith Square, Teatro della Feria Valladollid and many more. As a pianist he has worked very much as an accompanist, but also as a soloist, performing for organizations such as the Liszt Society and the Alkan Society and in venues such as Steinway Hall and the Bluthner Piano Centre in London. In 2009 Philip partook in the parody “The two orphans” starring alongside some of the most popular actors in Greece in a 60 performance tour around Greece, in which Philip sung the role of the narrator. He was also the orchestrator and conductor at the recording of the playback used for the performance. Other recording work includes the children's musical “Pol and Lara” by Dimitris Katis to be published later this year. Philip was the co director of the 2007 revival production of Shakespeare's forgotten play “Cardenio” at King's College London with the Anatomy Players as well as having served as Artistic Director at the Casa dei Mezzo music festival in Crete in 2008. He has produced as part of "Pop Opera" Verdi's "La Traviata" at the Municipal Theatre of Kalamata in 2009, Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" at EDO in Athens and Traetta's "Antigone" at the Castle Theatre in Kalamata. He has produced as an independant producer Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci - Electric Clown" (with electric guitar orchestration). |
Christos Ktistakis
Artistic director Larisa Symphony Orchestra Christos is from Larissa in the north of Greece. He studied piano and higher theoretical subjects at DOL. He continued his studies at the Saarland Saarbrucken University of Music and Theater in Germany, where he successfully completed the piano and solo master's with Prof. Kristin Merscher and a master's orchestra conducting, also with excellent, with Prof. Max Pommer. During his studies he attended a number of piano and orchestra classes, directed the mixed choir of Schafbrucke from 1992 to 1998, the Bischmisheim Children's Choir from 1995 to 1998 and founded in 1996 Polyphonia Vocale (a mixed chorus consisting of From students at the University of Saarbrucken) with works mainly a cappela. In his artistic career he has been a pianist in Greece and abroad and has appeared as a soloist or chamber musician in most European countries as well as in the United Arab Emirates and India. In 1996 he was awarded the DAAD Prize at the University of Saarland and recorded several times for German radio. He has written stage music for twenty-three theatrical plays and musicals in Greece (DRE.PE.L., Larissa, S.M.U.TH.) and in Germany. Co-founder of SYMOUTH (Music Workshop), Christos Ktistakis is the conductor of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Larissa since 2000, the Mixed Choir of the Tirnavos Musical Society since 2002, the Music Association of Larissa since 2006, artistic director of the Music School of the Municipality of Tirnavos From 2007-2011 and artistic director of the Music School of the Municipality of Tempi from September 2012. He directed the SOCD At the Athens Concert Hall in 2004 during Sunday Morning and the ERT Concert Orchestra in Herodion at the opening of the Athens Festival in 2005. Artistic director of the Larisa Symphony Orchestra, he collaborates with the Hellenic Opera Co team since 2015 and have put on stage Bellini's "Norma", Bizet's "Carmen" and Puccini's "Tosca" . |
